As a wedding photographer, you are an integral part of the overall wedding day. If you’re not prepared, you are either going to miss important shots or keep everyone waiting while you get set up. When you plan with your couple before the big wedding day, it’s important to get a clear idea of what the schedule will be like throughout the day. While most weddings follow a predictable pattern, you will want to know details before the day of the wedding.
Be Ready to Pose the Wedding Party
Part of staying on schedule is knowing how you are going to pose everyone the day of the wedding. While there will be plenty of opportunities for candid photos, you will need to have a variety of formal poses in mind if your couple wants formals with family and wedding party, which they will. Keep everyone on target by gathering everyone up after the ceremony and giving clear directions. You would benefit from having an assistant at this time to help keep people organized.
Prepare for Bad Weather
Know what you are going to do in the event the wedding day is full of rain. You’ll want to have a backup space to take formal shots of both the couple and the wedding party. If the wedding is inside, you’ll at least be able to take pictures throughout the ceremony and reception with ease. Look for ways to create solid images, no matter what the weather is.
As you meet with your couple, discuss their wishes for the wedding day. Talk about the kind of photography they are looking for. Discuss the schedule and ask for clarification whenever you aren’t sure of something. When you create the schedule, confirm with the couple and have a plan on the day of that will be stress free with everyone involved.
